I visited the new Eastside Kankakee Market, a unique, untraditional farmer’s and vendor market geared toward youth and community development, and featuring many career-young entrepreneur-vendors. I intend to keep coming back, to help them grow, and perhaps help bridge some of the social gaps that made forming this market necessary in the first place.
After collecting business cards at the market, I joined a friend and his family on a trip to visit his friends Reggie and Brenda Stewart in Pembroke. He had been talking to me for a few years about how amazing the couple is. I was not disappointed. Their business/ministry Runaway Buckers features a farm and youth summer camp. My and my friend’s kids absolutely loved the farm experience! The Stewarts love God, love people, and love this community; and I absolutely loved the opportunity to make their acquaintance.
